The Evolution and Rebrand of WeMB

The most impactful aspect of WeMB's rebrand journey was the thought and strategy we applied even before the process began. By adopting the name "WeMB," the organization made a bold move towards greater diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility for all.

With such a meaningful name in place, our mission was clear: to visually represent these values through the brand’s identity.

When creating a brand, it’s essential to uncover what makes the organization unique—what sets it apart? For WeMB, our focus was on emphasizing diversity and inclusivity from the start.

To bring these principles to life, we examined the name itself. We wanted "We" to stand out, symbolizing unity. By capitalizing the "W" and using a lowercase "e," we created a visual emphasis that conveyed the essence of togetherness.

We also wanted to highlight the Manitoba connection, so we chose to capitalize "MB" to reflect the province’s abbreviation, grounding the brand in its local roots.

In designing the icon, we saw an opportunity to symbolize the sense of community central to WeMB’s mission. The "W"s in the icon represent unity, connection, and the power of individuals coming together. These separate pieces combine to create something stronger. As a fun touch, when flipped, the "W"s become "E"s—bringing the "We" into the symbol itself.

This visual identity serves as a powerful reminder of WeMB’s commitment to inclusion, community, and strength through diversity.
