And air conditioning! That's right after 4 years of being on Graham Avenue we can finally control the temperature in the studio. We even have the Union Label as an endorsement. As soon as the air started to flow, this little baby came floating out of the vent. Now that that's under control I'm heading to a patio for some beverages. Have an awesome long weekend!
Plastic Paper

Guppy's Leslie Supnet presents her installation piece for Plastic Paper, Winnipeg's animation festival.
Plastic Paper started as a mini-program at the Winnipeg Cinematheque in 2009 by film programmer Kier-La Janisse. After leaving the Winnipeg Film Group she decided to invest some time and money into making Plastic Paper a full-fledged animation festival with visiting artists, programmers, expanded cinema and various sponsors and volunteers to help make it all happen. Plastic Paper is part of Kier-La's umbrella film collective Big Smash! that includes other kinds of film related programming and education http://big-smash.com/.
Leslie was asked by Todd Brown (film programmer for Plastic Paper and other projects, writer from Toronto) to make an installation piece for the festival. Leslie comments "They were pretty open and let me make a piece about whatever I wanted. A couple of months prior I found a funny JPG online called "How To Care For Introverts", which was a scan from a book for parents on how to deal with introverted children. I thought it would be neat to make a satirical instructional video based on that JPG, like the ones you find on VHS tapes, about a heartfelt subject. Plus, I remember what it was like to be an introverted child. All these pressures to make lots of friends and to make eye-contact when speaking! It was torture. So I made a pamphlet to go with the video with a cut out coupon for patrons to order their own VHS copy of How To Care For Introverts."
Guppy designed T-shirt on The Price Is Right!

Today on national television, a Guppy designed T-shirt made it on The Price Is Right! The T-shirts, designed by Bill, were worn by our very own Kelly Leschasin, and his partner Theresa Kuzina. With a great t-shirt and some smart bidding, Theresa made it down to the Contestant's Row!
Things were getting a little tense mid-show, but finally Theresa's bid won, played one of the hardest pricing games on the show, and WON some major prizes! Including a new dishwasher, dining set, cordless lawnmower, and....a NEW CAR!
Congrats to Theresa and Kelly!
Remember to come on down to the studio store this summer and check out some of the new hand-crafted T's and other goodies by Guppy.

Good Stuff Brewin'

The Guppy crew has been working hard and having fun at developing new labels / packaging / coasters for a local microbrewery that we are big fans of. We will leave them nameless for now, but keep checking back on our progress.
Definitely looking forward to seeing which label design advances to the next round. Will it be Bill's, Craig's, Blair's or Mark's? Exciting! We've got a wide range of designs for this one, ready to present the client.
Bill received a congratulatory letter from the Mayor today regarding the Pollie award. Cheers! *Pint of beer klink noise*
